Foundation of Excellence
Established in memory of Late Mohammad Usman, the UIT University (UITU) stands as a testament to his passion for education. Managed by the Usman Memorial Foundation (UMF), it was formed in 1973 by the Hasham family, known for its business empire including Mehran Sugar and Unicol.
From Tribute to Triumph
In 1994, the philanthropic vision of UMF materialized with the founding of Usman Institute of Technology (UIT). With unwavering commitment, UIT grew to become a beacon of higher education, offering programs in Engineering, Computer Sciences, Management, and Economics.
Accreditation and Recognition
Affiliated first with Hamdard University and later with NED University, UIT gained recognition from the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and accreditation from bodies like Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) and HEC’s National Computing Education Accreditation Council (NCEAC). Notably, its Electrical Engineering programs received OBE Level II under the Washington Accord, opening doors to global opportunities for graduates.

With a track record of producing over 4,000 professionals, UIT alumni are making significant contributions across industries, both locally and internationally. Many have become successful entrepreneurs or hold key positions in prestigious organizations, driving the nation’s economic growth.
Infrastructure for Innovation
Situated in the heart of Karachi, UIT’s current campus boasts modern facilities spread over 108,000 square feet, including classrooms, labs, a library, auditorium, cafeteria, and sports amenities. A sprawling 10-acre campus under construction in Malir District promises to elevate UIT’s infrastructure to new heights.
