Goals

3

Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages

SDG Goal 3, "Good Health and Well-Being" aims to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages. This goal encompasses a wide range of health priorities, including reducing maternal and child mortality, ending epidemics of major infectious diseases, reducing non-communicable diseases, and promoting mental health. It also emphasizes the importance of universal health coverage, access to quality essential health-care services, and access to safe, effective, quality, and affordable essential medicines and vaccines. Achieving SDG Goal 3 requires collaborative efforts to strengthen health systems, improve health financing, and address health inequities to build a healthier future for everyone.

Infectious Diseases

Pakistan has made strides in combating infectious diseases, such as polio, with the country reporting a significant reduction in polio cases in recent years. However, challenges remain in eradicating diseases like tuberculosis and hepatitis.

Access to Healthcare

Approximately 60% of Pakistan's population has access to essential health services, indicating a need for further expansion of healthcare coverage, especially in rural areas.

Non-Communicable Diseases

Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and cancer are on the rise, accounting for around 58% of all deaths in Pakistan. Efforts to address NCDs through prevention and management are critical.
